Dear Friends and Followers,

Have you ever wondered how “green” is your lifestyle? (the impact it has on the environment?) I certainly did! It actually is on my mind quite often, especially in the context of changing cities, jobs, countries.

How and where can I recycle? how expensive are the organic products and where can I find better deals? how about the farms and farmer’s markets? this and lots of other questions have been on my mind many, many times.

What I have learned so far is that if you do get to move around (travel, live in different places), you are more bound to that place and its regulations than you realize! the food you consume, the clothes you wear, the origins of the produce in the supermarkets, the water that you drink, etc. is already chosen for you in more ways than you realize! especially in the Western World.

Do not despair however! With a little bit of work and research, you can take better eco-friendly decisions (like choosing to go eat at a locally owned restaurant instead of a fast-food chain; giving second-hand shops a try (Goodwill, Salvation Army, second-hand shops anyone?), looking for the farmer’s market, buying less but better quality products and produce, etc).

Therefore, here are some great articles on how to have a better and greener lifestyle 🙂

But before that, try the footprint calculator from National Geographic. Just so you know where you stand and what needs to be addressed! 😉

Stay green!
